21-04-2020Testimonial from Yanina, German Au Pair In London
Why Is the au pair program so important? In the words of Yanina, who is au pairing …
Au pairs can help the host family for up to 30 hours per week including babysitting.
Minimum pocket money guidelines vary depending on hours and category of au pair as follows: £85/25 hours & £100/30 hours.
or £100/25 hours, £115/30 hours. Families in London often choose to pay more or to offer a travel card in addition to the pocket money.
Extra hours are paid at a minimum of £5/h.
Our agency fees start from around £550 + VAT on average for a 5-6 month placement. See our full fees confirmed here: https://www.smartaupairs.com/host-family/fees-and-refund-policy
The placement fee is only payable upon a successful match. Each long term placement fee includes a 6 week free replacement guarantee.
It is of course also important to consider the additional cost of another person living with you and factoring in costs related to food, potential increase in utility costs and car insurance if au pair is required to drive.
Car insurance cost in particular is likely to be high given the young age of the au pairs.
