HOW MUCH DOES A TYPICAL AU PAIR EARN, AND HOW MANY HOURS SHOULD THEY WORK?

Au pairs will typically help the host family for up to 30 hours per week including babysitting.

2021: Minimum pay is currently under review. Please consult Smartaupairs for more information.

Families in London often choose to pay more or to offer a travel card in addition to the pay.

Our agency fees start from around £850+VAT. See our full fees confirmed here: https://www.smartaupairs.com/host-family/fees-and-refund-policy

The placement fee is only payable upon a successful match. Each long term placement fee includes a 6 week free replacement guarantee.

It is of course also important to consider the additional cost of another person living with you and factoring in costs related to food, potential increase in utility costs, employer's liability insurance, potential payroll charges and car insurance if au pair is required to drive.

Car insurance cost in particular is likely to be high given the young age of the au pairs.
