Policy Statement
Smart Au Pairs Limited is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people. We recognise our responsibility to take all reasonable steps to ensure that candidates introduced to families are suitable to work with children.
Smart Au Pairs Limited operates solely as an introduction agency, introducing families to au pairs and nannies for live-in and live-out roles. We do not employ candidates directly and do not supervise candidates once placed.
We are committed to acting responsibly, professionally, and in accordance with UK safeguarding best practice.

Our Safeguarding Commitment
Smart Au Pairs Limited will prioritise the safety and welfare of children at all times.
Smart Au Pairs Limited will carry out appropriate vetting procedures for all candidates prior to introduction.
Smart Au Pairs Limited requires all candidates to hold a valid DBS certificate or criminal background check prior to placement.
Overseas candidates are required to provide a criminal background check from their country of origin where applicable.
Smart Au Pairs Limited will obtain and verify a minimum of two recent, contactable references.
Smart Au Pairs Limited verifies candidate identity.
Smart Au Pairs Limited verifies candidate right to work in the UK.
Smart Au Pairs Limited ensures all candidates are aged 18 or over at the time of placement.
Smart Au Pairs Limited assesses candidate suitability through interview and screening.
Smart Au Pairs Limited provides families with relevant candidate information to support informed recruitment decisions.

Candidate Vetting Procedures
Before introducing candidates to families, Smart Au Pairs Limited requires a valid DBS certificate or equivalent criminal background check.
Proof of identity is required.
Proof of right to work in the UK is required.
A minimum of two recent childcare references is required.
Candidates undergo interview and suitability assessment.
Candidates must demonstrate relevant childcare experience.
Smart Au Pairs Limited does not introduce candidates under the age of 18.

Agency Role
Smart Au Pairs Limited acts as an introduction agency only. We do not employ candidates and are not responsible for supervising candidates once placed.
The employing family is responsible for interviewing and selecting their chosen candidate, supervising and managing the candidate, and ensuring the safety and welfare of their children.

Reporting Safeguarding Concerns
Any safeguarding concerns relating to a candidate introduced by Smart Au Pairs Limited should be reported immediately to:
Smart Au Pairs Limited reserves the right to suspend or remove candidates from our service if safeguarding concerns arise.
