Winners of our Comment and Photo Competition announced!

28-09-2012

On the day of our Au Pair Get Together, we opened a competition to all of our au pairs. In order to enter, au pairs were asked to send a comment or photo to summarise or represent their placement with their UK host family so far. The £50 prize for the best photo was awarded to Elisa from Italy, who is currently placed in London. The photo she entered shows her alongside Lego statues of William, Kate and Harry in Hamleys, Regent Street.

Anna from Poland, who is currently living with her host family in Suffolk, was awarded the £50 prize for the best comment. Her winning comment is a summary of the relationship she has formed with the little boy in her host family. It is as follows:

"Hello everyone. I am an au pair six months. This is quite a new experience for me. I've never been away for so long on my family and home. But I'm glad that I decided to take such a step. Being an au pair is a number of benefits. Getting to know new places and people , to try other dishes. Being part of a complete stranger family. But also a lot of fun. I look after a  boy named William. To be honest, sometimes he have crazy ideas that I might be laughing on the floor! However, in general it is nice and quiet. In the summer rode the bike tour and we had a play on the playground. Jumping on the trampoline and ate a pizza. We did battle water in the kitchen - and then it all housekeeping together. We drove together to the cinema and Burger King. Sometimes late at night, sitting on the computer and comparing who  the laptop is faster. And of course, William believed that his, but that's not true. In general, William has a computers hand , he can do everything on my laptop. However, the nicest aspect of everyday life is telling him every morning, when I take him go to school, the phrase "Have fun." And every time he says: "I'll try." Once I forgot to tell him that, and he reminded me: "Do not forget about something , Ana?"It's a great kid and I'm glad I met him. I wish you all equally wonderful children and survival of their memorable moments Regards Anna"

Congratulations to both girls and thank you to everyone who entered the competition. Here are some further excellent entries that we received:
