BAPAA (British Au Pair Agencies Association)
Nicole Kofkin, our MD, has been on the board of BAPAA since 2007 and has taken on various projects from upgrading the website to improving the au pair & family benefits. Now she is improving relations and mutual understanding between BAPAA and organizations such as Eurodesk UK, the British Council, Visit Britain and BETA.

Nicole Kofkin is representing BAPAA on the European Committee for Au Pair Standards (ECAPS), with the objective of defining au pair standards within Europe.

IAPA (International Au Pair Association)
Smartaupairs has recently joined IAPA and wants to work closely with the IAPA committee. We are launching an ‘outbound’ au pair program, where we facilitate placements of au pair candidates with host families Europe and beyond through our network of established partner agencies.

Smartaupairs joined the British Educational Travel Association a couple of years because we feel strongly that the au pair experience is a valuable learning experience and we are keen to ensure it becomes more recognized for its educational benefits.

What’s new?
We are looking to apply for for Leonardo funding.
Leonardo is part of the European Commission's Lifelong Learning Programme and aims to build a skilled workforce across Europe. The partnership program funded by Leornardo will enable us to work closer together with a number of European partners on a project called REAL , Rewarding Experience for Au Pair Learning.
Our team is a passionate group of international individuals who provide benefits from knowledge, focus and added value. We are all Europeans and we cover many languages between us!
Our MD and founder, a well-travelled Kent mum, Nicole, 43, speaks four languages and has spent the last 15 years travelling the world as a manager in the travel industry with companies such as Hilton hotels, First Choice Holidays, Airmiles and P&O Ferries.
Nicole, who moved to England in 1993 from her native Holland, says she has always been passionate about encouraging young people to broader their horizons and to improve their language skills.
With two children of her own, and husband with an equally demanding career, quality childcare was vital to help her balance the demands of juggling family and work. The au pair program was ideal as it gave the children early exposure to cultural exchange.
Her first placement experience combined with her career in travel marketing and passion for languages inspired her to set up Smartaupairs.
Our business partners are specialists in their field. We work with a wide range of partner agencies in many European countries from market leaders to exclusive specialists. The one thing they all have in common is their passion for a high quality au pair program.
